Hi all. Several quick things to pass along:
1) Set the date for your kickoff party and notify us of the date ASAP by filling out a marketing request at this link: http://one.fsu.edu/community/page.aspx?pid=3356 . Your information must be in by June 28th to be included in our initial marketing efforts.
2) Phase 1 and Phase 2 clubs, remember that your end of year financials are due between July 1 and July 10. Reporting templates and information can be found here, under Reporting and Financial headers: http://one.fsu.edu/community/page.aspx?pid=3749
3) Many clubs did not transition officers in timely fashion this year. As you plan for next year, be sure to schedule your elections early enough to have your new board in place on June 1st, so they can take the reins on time on July 1st.
4) Save this date: FSU Alumni Association Kickoff Luncheon is August 23rd.
5) Save this date too: Seminole Boosters Plant the Spear party is August 28th.

Just a quick note to say thank you to those of you that were able to attend our annual Seminole Club Leadership Conference last week! I say this every year–because it’s true–but this was our best one yet. A big thank you goes to the Alumni Association and Seminole Clubs’ staff for all their hard work! And to all the on campus entities that participated as well. Continue reading
The calendar will soon turn to April and before you know it our annual Seminole Clubs Leadership Conference weekend will be here. In fact, the conference kicks off two weeks from tomorrow. Currently we have representatives from over 20 clubs signed up to attend and that’s terrific. But there are several clubs who have yet to sign up. I won’t name names…but you procrastinators know who you are, so get to it and sign up! For those of you who are on the fence, let me simply say that the feedback we get every year from this conference is tremendous. It’s a fun weekend that allows you to network and share ideas with fellow club leaders while being back at the university you love. All the workshops and sessions are designed to help energize you about FSU and to help you better run your Seminole Clubs. And from the feedback we receive, there’s a perfect mix of business and pleasure. (Plus you never know what might happen–just last year Lonnie Pryor grabbed the mic and sang with the live band. Let’s just say he’s a better fullback than frontman).
The conference begins on Thursday night April 11th and runs through the spring football game on April 13th. You can find the agenda and register to attend at this link: http://one.fsu.edu/Community/leadership2013
It’s important that your club or chapter be represented because what we cover is what’s required and expected of your club or chapter. Remember that online registration closes on April 5th. As always…if you have questions, let us know! Thanks and Go ‘Noles!
As you participate in Seminole Service Day tomorrow, use the hashtag #ssd2013 on twitter, instagram, and vine, Don’t forget to wear your garnet and gold and have a great time. Thanks for representing FSU in such a positive manner in your local communities!
This is a reminder that we have a conference call scheduled for this week, on Wednesday, March 6th, for all Phase 1 and Phase 2 clubs. Please attend either the 12:30 or 5:00 pm e.s.t. call. Email us for call-in information and so we know which call you will be on. Also, please have the following information handy as we will need it on Wednesday:
–Your current/most recent exempt status per the IRS (is/was your club a 501c3, 501c7, not registered?)
–What was your club fiscal year prior to aligning with that of FSU (which is July 1-June 30)?
–When did you last file a 990/tax return? Was it marked final?
In addition to addressing the above, we will also discuss the upcoming Seminole Service Day, Leadership Conference, Seminole Send-offs, seminoleclubs.com website, and more. Please let me know if you have any questions, and don’t forget to RSVP.
Hi all. A quick reminder that Leadership Conference is rapidly approaching. This year’s conference will run Thursday April 11-Saturday April 13th, and while similar in nature to past conferences…there are some exciting new wrinkles too:
–Our kickoff reception on Thursday night April 11th will be a bowling night at Crenshaw Lanes, and our guest student-athletes will participate in the festivities!
–Our Saturday morning program will be held at the Film School’s theater at the stadium (I bet many of you didn’t know there was a theater underneath the student section at Doak Campbell!). The program will feature a look at some of the AMAZING films produced by our students, as well as a behind the scenes look at the making of our FSU commercial (which was also recorded in the soundstage under the stadium)
–There is a home baseball series scheduled for spring weekend this year. If you’d like tickets to the FSU baseball game on Saturday night April 13th at 6:00, please call the ticket office at 888-378-6653. While the game is not an official part of the weekend conference, Athletics is holding tickets for Seminole Club leaders. The deadline to purchase your tickets is March 29th.
So, the nuts and bolts are:
1) Register for the conference and secure your hotel here.
*Must book by March 11th to secure group rate at hotel
2) Call the ticket office to purchase FSU baseball tickets if you plan to attend a game that weekend. With all who will be in town that weekend, the weekend series vs. Duke will likely sell out.
Club leaders—This is an extremely important time and legislative session for Florida State University. President Barron has announced a bold plan to bring FSU among the nation’s elite public universities. But to make this happen, FSU needs you to make your voice heard with your legislators and state leaders. Please stress the importance of signing up for Advocate for Florida State at your National Signing Day event and any/all club events and via any/all correspondence. FYI opting in to Advocate for Florida State will not bombard you with emails. It will keep you informed when there is important FSU news and legislative priorities, and will instruct you how to make your voice heard. Here’s a link to details about the exciting FSU announcement: Continue reading
Many Seminole Clubs and Chapters have developed logos over the years to help with brand identity. While this is important and completely permissible, it’s also important to remember that the logos must be compliant from an FSU Trademark Licensing standpoint. There are certain guidelines that must be followed to ensure that FSU’s marks are used correctly and that the FSU brand is not watered down. Continue reading
