The Fifth Annual Seminole Service Day was a great success! This year we had close to 50 clubs and chapters participate in the FSU Alumni Association’s coordinated day of community service. This would not be possible without great leadership and planning on the part of our Seminole Clubs and Chapters.
Members of the FSU community from all over the country came together to help make their neighborhoods a better place while wearing the garnet and gold. Seminole Service Day projects ranged from serving food in soup kitchens and food banks, building homes, cleaning up high schools and beaches, volunteering with the Salvation Army and Ronald McDonald Charities, to providing support to children and animals, and so much more. Seminole Service Day allows alumni, students, staff, faculty, parents and friends to foster the desire to lead for the greater good in their communities. By bringing together diverse members of FSU’s community with a common goal of service, Seminole Service Day strengthens the bond with each other and the University, and increases FSU’s visibility around the world.
Below are some tips to keep in mind for Seminole Service Day.
Before Service Day:
- Use the official hashtag for Seminole Service Day #SeminoleServiceDay.
- Help promote Seminole Service Day by posting on Facebook and Twitter starting TODAY!
- Use the hashtag before, during and after the event to spread the word about good work being done by Seminoles in your community.
- If you have not yet completed a press release, please do so now to let local news and radio outlets know about Seminole Service Day in your community. View a sample press release now.

There’s nothing wrong with getting your hands a little dirty every once in a while! By planning hands-on community service projects you are able to give back to your community in a meaningful way and make a significant impact on the people you serve.
Seminole Service Day projects are a great way to get non-club members involved with your club. Members can invite friends and family for extra hands. Your club can ask local retailers to donate supplies, such as paint, hardware and tools. This helps to promote local business and promote your local Seminole Club®—while making a difference in the community.
We hope that you have begun planning meaningful service day projects and are getting excited to gather with fellow Seminoles to give the greatest gift of all—your time. Continue reading
